Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kenya

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Kenya was established in 1964 following the diplomatic relationship between the two countries. Since then the Embassy has been serving diplomatic and consular functions in Kenya. In early stage, the Jurisdiction of the Embassy covered various countries such Uganda, Mauritius, Comoro, Seychelle, Somalia and Eritrea. Currently the Embassy serves diplomatic missions for Kenya and Somalia.

With the strengthening of bilateral relations between Korea and Kenya to a wider array of cooperation areas such as trade and investment, industry, science and technology, health, e-Government, agriculture, development and cultural area, the role of the Embassy also has been strengthened.

Amongst various diplomatic missions that our Embassy is serving, the Embassy also committed to open doors for the people of Kenya and Somalia to experience Korea in culture, education and in Korean language. Fully supported Global Korea Scholarships by Korean government are granted to prominent Kenyan and Somalian students every year. Also, there are at least 2 times of TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) exam held every year in Kenya. Also, 3rd of October is Korean National Foundation day, so the Embassy hosts a reception and celebration. (This year's event has been cancel due to the COVID-19 Pandamic.) In this regard, usually the month of October is celebrated as a Korean cultural period by the Embassy.

Our consular section has been working closely with the people of Kenya and Somalia when they wished to visit Korea or for any consular related matters.

The Embassy will continue to make an effort to contribute to the friendly relationship between Korea and Kenya, Korea and Somalia. Especially during this challenging pandemic period, Korean Embassy will remain as a close friend by reaching out to the public through various channels and available support.
