KOPIA Centre was established in 2009 to contribute to the advancement of international cooperation through various projects that build friendly and collaborative relationships and mutual exchanges between Korea and developing countries. KOICA Kenya office is implementing various kinds of projects focusing on ‘WASH’ and ‘Education (including capacity building)’ Section. Also, KOICA is cooperating with not only international organizations, but also NGO organizations.

Established KOPIA Centers since 2009 to support agricultural technology development of partner countries. Our main jobs are 'Joint development, transferring and disseminating of customized and localized agricultural technologies to increase agricultural productivity and farmers’ income', 'Technology transfer which is more effective than food-aid to overcome hunger and poverty'. In addition, KOPIA not only provide Agri. Tech but also R&D, extension knowhow to fit to the SDGs.

KOPIA Kenya Centre ongoing projects are as below:
-Improvement of indigenous Chicken and Potato Value Chains Performance among Small-scale Producers in Meru County, Kenya
-Improvement of Farmers’ Income through Establishment of Sericulture Villages
-Post-management of the model village project for small holder farmers' income increase in Kenya
-Evaluation and promotion of advanced technologies on vegetable production for enhanced yields in Kenya
-Demonstration and promotion of feeds for enhancing indigenous chicken productivity under semi-intensive/intensive production systems
-Increasing maize yield through improvement of traditional cultivation methods and establishment of standard cultivation methods

Description

The primary role and responsibility of our office is to manage the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) support to the East African Countries (Especially Kenya and Tanzania). EDCF has steadily continued to increase its ODA and successfully carried out major tasks to enhance development effectiveness. By doing so, it aims at meeting the rapidly growing development demands of the developing countries in alignment with the recent international discussions on development that stress the importance of eradicating poverty through economic growth.
According to its objective of promoting the economic development of partner countries and building mutual cooperation, EDCF is dedicated to providing support for developing countries to build infrastructure to achieve sustainable growth. To be more effective in its efforts, EDCF has been diversifying development resources and support programs. In particular, it has developed support plans by region/country to enhance aid efficiency and implement tailor-made support programs.
It also seeks to enhance development effectiveness based on coordinated efforts with other Korean and international aid institutions while increasingly taking a leading role in international development cooperation.
